Let me start by saying…we have never had a problem from our neighbors…except that we get tired of seeing their junk!

The view from my bedroom window |
view from the office windows (notice the healthy bamboo plant to the left) |
close up of some of the junk being stored inside the junk van….it is FULL of junk…this is only a small portion of what all is inside |
another junk vehicle that is now being used for their junk storage |
I am including some additional junk pictures just for the fun of it….and this is “out in the open” so we see it EVERYTIME we go in our backyard…
some of this is the old glass and screens from when we replaced windows….these were by the road for garbage pickup…they got them and this is where they have been since then |
an old basketball goal without the backboard or goal….just the pole and base |
an old paddleboat…..we live in the middle of town….no water anywhere and they have no way of getting it to water…..what is the point?! |
behind the FIRST and larger storage building…I think it used to be a garage |
behind the smaller storage building…..thank God we don’t see this all the time….just when we go all the way to the very back of the yard |
Hence, the bamboo…
A little background information about bamboo:1st year: bamboo sleeps, 2nd year: bamboo creeps, 3rd year: bamboo leapsBamboo spreads, or “leaps” by rhizomes (these look like small bamboo plants growing right about the roots that spread horizontally underneath the soil). About 5 years ago, we bought three bamboo plants, $50 each (but at least that is cheaper, and prettier, than a fence). Only one has survived. We think the other two may have been killed with Roundup by someone:( but we aren’t sure….we just know that they died. So, on to the missing bamboo plant. A few weeks before we left on vacation, which is about 4 or 5 weeks ago, we noticed that the one surviving bamboo plant had “leapt” and another plant was growing.
where the plant had come up… |
It had grown to about 3 feet tall before we realized it but when we did, we dug up the plant and roots and moved it. It had taken root under their “junk” van. We replanted it beside the large surviving bamboo plant so that they would be in a more uniform line.

where the plant was moved to before leaving on vacation |
Last weekend, I looked outside and noticed the transplanted bamboo plant was missing! Around the area where it had been planted was pieces of bamboo (the neighbor had been mowing in the area…I don’t know why she was mowing that part of our yard) so she had “scattered” pieces that were on the ground..but, I still couldn’t find the plant itself. We just hoped that the roots were still in the ground…so we just tried to forget about what had happened to it. Yesterday, which was Monday, I was outside mowing the yard. When I started mowing around the oakleaf hydrangeas, I noticed that the plant (root and all!!) had been “hidden” behind the hydrangeas, which are planted beside the neighbor’s larger “junk” building…again, trying to make things look better. So, obviously, when the planted was pulled up, the person that pulled it tried to hide it! UGH!
the “hiding” place… I had already rescued it and put it in a bucket of water, hoping it will survive |
I got the bamboo plant and filled a bucket with water, and submerged it in the water until Momma got home to plant it back where she wanted it.

trying to revive and save the bamboo plant |
The missing bamboo plant is now replanted…and will hopefully survive….and LEAP:)…….but THIS MEANS WAR!!! (ok, not really…but don’t mess with our plants!) 🙂
