It was a pretty chill Mother’s Day weekend…and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Friday Night
There wasn’t much going on, like usual – laundry, supper, and something you probably heard about – the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) made its way down South, all the way south! I have seen the Northern Lights in Iceland, and it was an amazing experience but this was equally as amazing!
Saturday
I was up by 5:15 (despite staying up late to take pictures of the aurora) because I had a 10K race about 45 minutes down the highway. After getting the cats fed, a few things taken care of at my grandmother’s, and getting dressed, I headed south.
I wasn’t the fastest but I also wasn’t the slowest…and I was 5 minutes faster than the 10K the week before!
Once I returned home, my mom and I ran a few errands. After a stop at Starbucks, the local jewelry store, and then Lowe’s, we were back home to relax for the rest of the day. My sister had come in for the weekend so it was nice to visit with her. It was perfect weather for sitting on the deck!
After some time outside, we took showers, visited with my grandmother, ate supper and watched TV together, and then all went to bed. I did go outside again to make sure I wasn’t missing anything LOL. Not the aurora but the Starlink satellites flying over!
Sunday
It was Mother’s Day! My sister had come in for that reason and she also went to church with us 🙂 We made our usual stop at Starbucks and headed to the church. For Mother’s Day this year, our Clubhouse Kids (Wednesday nights, age nursery up through 9) made handprint pot holders for the moms andheld a Mother’s Day brunch for them before Sunday School.
After Sunday School, our children sang a special song for Mother’s Day, and then some of them were part of the pastor’ Mother’s Day message 🙂 Like always, we had awesome praise and worship. We did also honor the mothers in the church. (They always draw names for some gift cards). After church, the bake auction we have been doing for the last few years also concluded. Unfortuately, I didn’t even think to take a picture of this :/ This is a good fundraiser and what better time to have baked goods than on Mother’s Day.
Before leaving church, we made sure to take a picture for Mother’s Day!
We stopped and picked up food on the way home. We spent the rest of the day relaxing…
spending time together, and with my grandmother, and then said our goodbyes to my sister as she left to go back home. Of course, before going to bed, I had to check for the aurora one last time HA! (it was cloudy)
*linking up with Holly & Sarah for Hello Monday!
