It was a nice, productive, and then stormy weekend! It was A LOT…
Friday
Friday evening, after supper, I went across the street to my sister’s house (used to be my grandmother’s) and we played the Crash Bandicoot racing game (CTR, maybe?). I’m not as good as she is, but it is always so fun! We are always laughing (usually at my racing skills LOL)

After 3, 4, or maybe 5 “cup races”, I went back home and finished up the laundry I had been working on before. I worked on a blog post or two, and then went to bed.
Saturday
Saturday morning, we had our quarterly (core) leadership meeting at 7 am, so I was up before the sun, feeding the cats and getting dressed. We made our Starbucks run, and headed to the church. We had a great meeting. It is always good to have these, to keep us all on the same page.

On the way home from the meeting, we made a stop at Lowe’s for flowers and more mulch. My mom got started on putting out the mulch, while I weed-eated the strip of grass between the house and driveway (the lawn mowing guy had gotten the rest of the yard mowed/weed-eated Friday morning). If you remember, a few weekends ago, we started putting out mulch. When we got those first 10 bags, we ended up with hardwood. When we went to Lowe’s on Saturday, we asked for hardwood, and they asked, black, brown, or red. We said brown, because we knew the other was brown. They are not the same brand so now we have patchwork mulch LOL. It is what it is. We’ll just make sure to figure up how many we used this time, and get that amount all at once next year.

With tired bags and happy hearts;), we went inside to shower and eat lunch. We both got a few things done for church, I worked on another load or two of laundry, and then it was time for supper. We watched some TV while eating, but in the middle of the show, tornado sirens started going off, so we rounded up the cats and got in our safe place (I must add here, the past week 4 days have been stormy. We were not affected in any of it but a town (and others) not far up the road from our town was devastated. Pray for those people!) However, Saturday night’s tornadoes got really close so we were hunkered down. The cats were not fans of being cooped up in the hallway with us, and started growling. Bless them! We ended up having to open up half of the house so that they were stressed, and just hoped no windows blew out. We had 4 or 5 (I lost count) tornado warnings, back to back. It was at least two and a half hours with the sirens going off.

We were FINALLY given the all clear, so we went to bed. But, despite the tornadoes being over, we then had to worry about flooding. Our town has pretty good drainage (now) but when it rains that hard and that fast, it flooded. Our houses were safe, but so many streets were flooded. This same type of flooding happened in 2010 and we couldn’t get out of town. Our houses were spared but…
Sunday
…our church was not 🙁 I am thankful that it wasn’t as high as 2010, but it is still sad. Our pastor and board members were alerted to the church flooding and got to the church around 3 am and started working to get the water out. Around 5 am, our pastor texted and let the care leaders know (to share with their groups) that we would not be having church due to the flooding, but that we would meet to start the cleanup, and a text would be sent later once they were able to assess the situation. The cleanup text went out around 7, and those that could met at 9.
Yes, it did affect our newly updated sanctuary and will now delay our moving into it (which would have been this coming Sunday, or Easter Sunday at the latest) and we are sad about that, but it is okay. We may not know the plan or purpose, but we trust God’s plan. We trust Him! …and as our pastor said multiple times yesterday, “we are resilient!”.
After about 5 hours (for those that arrived at 9am), we were at a point where we couldn’t do anything else. Now we just wait to see how much of the walls, etc. will need to be replaced/repaired. We all left and went home. We showered, ate supper, watched Hope Street, tried to mentally prepare for the work week, and then went to bed.
Happy Monday!

Congrats on your planting- I can’t wait to get started here! 🙂
Thanks! The funny thing is, we have a frost warning for tonight, so now I will have to go cover those flowers :/
