Monthly Musings: Christmas & New Years

It’s time for another Monthly Musing!! This time I’m talking about last-minute holiday tips and prepping for the New Year.

1. What do you do about last-minute gifts you forgot to buy?

So, here’s the thing…we don’t give gifts. We used to, but then it ended up that we would get each other whatever throughout the year. We would rather spend time together. If we get gifts, okay. If we don’t, that’s okay too.

2. Favorite last-minute holiday recipe?

We don’t do a Christmas dinner or anything big. We like to do things like dips. I don’t know that it is last-minute because I know I want to do it and already have the ingredients, but…sausage dip 🙂

3. Favorite part of the holiday season so far?

The Christmas lights, our downtown decorations, the festivities, the time at home with my mom and the cats.

4. Best stocking stuffer/small gift?

lip gloss/lip mask.

5. Favorite holiday sweet treat?

Chocolate. I don’t have a favorite, that I can think of. I do like some chocolate, and I probably do have a little more of it during the holidays.

6. Will you make a New Year’s Resolution?

I used to make resolutions but it seems those end up failing. I make goals now, and I seem to be able to succeed at most of them. I don’t know what the difference is but the word matters…to me.

7. Do you use a planner? Paper or electronic?

Yes. I use both paper and electronic. I have a paper planner that I have EVERYTHING in, and then I keep up the church calendar, and it is electronic.

8. Stay up until midnight or sound asleep when the ball drops?

It depends on how tired I am. I like to stay up, but if I get tired, I will go to sleep, and not care that I missed the ball drop LOL

9. What do you do on New Years Day?

Our local running group has a Resolution Run on January 1. We meet, run, and then have breakfast together. I am looking forward to participating in this again in 2025.

2024’s commemorative bottle 😉

10. Are you taking time off in December?

I don’t take time off. We get time off starting December 24 through January 1, which is 7 working days. I usually don’t take time off, unless I need more days than that. As far as my church job, I don’t take time off. I use the time I’m off from my “non-church” job to get a lot of big things/projects done for church. I like it so I don’t mind. I won’t be working on Christmas Day though 🙂
