Monthly Musings: Celebrating Memorial Day Weekend

It’s time for another Monthly Musing. This time we’re talking about celebrating Memorial Day weekend!

1. How are you spending Memorial Day weekend?

On Saturday, my mom and I are planning to go kayaking; Sunday will be a normal Sunday – church, followed by relaxing and spending time at home; and Monday will be spent at home, relaxing and maybe getting some work done in the house…and there will be grilled burgers.

2. Favorite ice cream?

Strawberry or banana.

3. Memorial Day travel or hang at home?

This year, hanging at home.

4. Burger, hot dog, or both?

I prefer both, but this year, it will probably only be a burger.

5. Favorite cookout sides?

chips, dips, potato salad, and baked beans. Will I have any of that this year? Probably not HA!

6. White before or after Memorial Day?

I’ve always heard white after Easter and that’s before Memorial Day, so…white before Memorial Day.

7. Memorial Day traditions?

just being at home, and grilling. We don’t grill a lot but if we do, it’s almost always on Memorial Day.

8. Share a summer recipe.

It is not my recipe but I have made this red, white & blue trifle before and it is easy, delicious, and very festive:)

9. Parades, fireworks or cookouts?

None of the above. If we had a parade, I might attend. If the neighbors happen to shoot fireworks, I might go outside and watch. When we grill, I don’t call it a cookout. It is usually just my grandmother, my mom, and me. Sometimes my sister gets to come but not often, so I would call it grilling, not cooking out.

10. Show us your red, white & blue!

I currently do not have any red, white, or blue. I had a shirt or two but I don’t know where they are, plus they might be too big anyway. BUT! I have just recently discovered jane.com (thanks to another blogger) and I have these two in my cart! (I obviously won’t have it before Memorial Day but will before the other patriotic days.)
