Lucky Hodgepodge [3.19.25]

Happy Wednesday, friends! Let’s do this!! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup! Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. I write the Hodgepodge questions so they’ll post on Sunday, which sometimes throws me off in terms of what day it is. St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated on Monday, March 17th. Did you mark the day in some way? Wear green? Make a special meal? Watch or participate in a parade?

No special meals or parades but I did wear a green shirt. Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture.

I will be “celebrating” by running a “Pot o’ Gold 5K” this weekend. It was supposed to be this past weekend (on the 15th) but was postponed due to storms.

2.  Do you think luck plays a part in your life? Explain.

It’s not about luck; it’s about blessings from God.

3. Of the 15 green foods listed, which one is your favorite and how do you like it prepared? Any on the list that are a hard no for you? In general, do you like fruits and veggies? As a kid did you eat them willingly or did you hide peas in your napkin hoping your momma wouldn’t see?

Asparagus, avocado, broccoli, celery, cucumber, grape, green bean, kale, kiwi, lettuce, lime, pear, peas, pistachios, spinach

I guess pistachios are probably my favorite “green food”. I just like to eat them shelled. But a close second is cucumber, in the summer and home-grown, with Philadelphia cream cheese spread and everything bagel seasoning. A hard no for me is celery. In general, I do like fruits and veggies. I don’t remember trying to hide any vegetables. I may have, but I don’t remember it LOL.

4. What’s something that makes you ‘turn green’? (with envy or with illness… whichever way you want to run with it)

One thing that makes me green with sickness is when someone mistreats an animal, older person, or “vulnerable person”. When I hear of this, it sets me off and makes me sick. It is worse if I actually see it happen.

5.  Did you spend a lot of time outdoors as a child? Doing what? Do you spend a lot of time outdoors now? Doing what?

I don’t feel like I spent much time outside as a child. I did spend a fair amount of time outside but my neighbor had biting dogs, and I think I was scared to be outside. When I had friends over, I did play outside, and those are actually some of my favorite memories. I probably do spend more time outside now than I did as a child, but not as much as I would like to. Sometimes I just don’t have the time. However, when the weather is nice, I do have the windows open in the house. Also, when I run, I run outside as much as I can.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

This, on Sirius, is what gets me through the days when I’m in-office. There’s too much talking… :/ It keeps me “sane” LOL.

Hope you do great with your 5K on the weekend! It makes me ill to see or hear of a vulnerable person or an animal being treated cruelly. I think that should be a normal reaction, don’t you? Hope you’re having a great week!
