This week’s topic was “Genre freebie”, which meant pick a genre and build a list around it. When I started thinking about the genres that I seem to be drawn to lately, historical fiction was one that stuck out. To be honest, I am normally not at all interested in history (it is a short list of what history actually interests me) but give me a well-written historical fiction book, and I’m good to go! So, I decided to make a list of 5 historical fiction books I’ve read lately, and 5 that I want to read soon.
5 Historical Fiction books that I have read:
1. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
2. The Rose Code by Kate Quinn
3. A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles
4. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
5 Historical Fiction books that I want to read:
1. The Huntress by Kate Quinn
2. Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah
3. The Last Summer by Karen Swan
4. A Ballad of Love and Glory by Reyna Grande
5. The Second Life of Mirielle West by Amanda Skenandore

Winter Garden sounds very interesting.
My post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-xenofiction/
yes!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard of xenofiction, and I don’t think I would normally been interested in it (to each, their own I guess) but Memoirs of a Snowflake & A Dog’s Purpose both look interesting.
Historical fiction is my favorite genre. I love your choices here.
Thank you! It is getting close to being my favorite genre as well.
I haven’t read most of these, just Huckleberry Finn and The Scarlet Letter. I loved Towles’ Rules of Civility so I really want to read Gentleman in Moscow.
I haven’t read Rules of Civility but after reading and enjoying A Gentleman in Moscow, I want to read it now.
I enjoyed The Rose Code last year and hope to read more of Quinn’s books this year.
