It was a good weekend!
Friday Night
Nothing exciting…I started laundry. I just enjoyed being at home.
Saturday
I was up early but it wasn’t to run this time. Each quarter, we have a leadership meeting/breakfast at church on a Saturday morning at 7 am. (We call it “Saturday @ 7”). So, that was this past Saturday. We stopped at Starbucks and got egg bites and coffee. Yes, I knew there would be food there but it was biscuits so I try to be healthy when I can, plus I like the egg bites:)
I knew I would be missing a run outside (before the sun came out) so I went dressed to the meeting in my running clothes. When I got home from the meeting, I gathered up my earbuds and water bottle and headed to the gym. I got 3 miles in on the treadmill and headed back home. By 10:45 am on a Saturday morning, I had a meeting done, a run completed, and was back home and bedsheets changed. I would call that a productive day, and it wasn’t even noon. I worked on church work, finished laundry, and just relaxed and enjoyed the day.
Sunday
This particular Sunday, we had a meeting with the door greeters and guest services volunteers at 8:30. I was already there (I’m usually at the church by 8, and of course, I had my coffee and egg bites). The rest of the morning was like most Sundays – Sunday school with the best teachers, praise and worship led by the best praise team, and an awesome message delivered by the absolute best pastor in the world!
Once church was over, I did not go home like usual because it was our Back-to-School water day for our 12 & under children. It was planned for 4-7 pm but the water slide would be set up between 2 and 3. There was no point in going home because let’s be honest, I probably would not have wanted to go back to the church HA! So, I ate lunch (Mexican food) in town with my mom and the children’s director, and her husband. While we were eating, our children’s director got a call that they were at the church to set up the slide. They were at least 30 minutes early. She let them know that we were finishing lunch and would be there soon (we were 5 minutes down the road). When we got back to the church, the slide was set up and they were connecting the water hose to it. While waiting on others to arrive, we worked on getting drinks out and getting everything else set up (we had kiddie pools, a small jumpy, and a splash pad for the littlest kiddos). One of the children’s department volunteers, and her son and husband, showed back up early (they didn’t go home either) so she helped us get everything ready. Luckily for her son and his friend (also one of our church kids), they had extra time to play on the slide. Eventually, other families started arriving and the fun commenced. The kids played hard, ate hot dogs and chips, played some more, and the adults were tired HA! But it was a great back-to-school event, and we are ready for fall now!
This is the only picture I have from the Back-to-School water day (other than the kids and I’m not posting them here)
