COMPLETE: MMD’s 2020 Reading Challenge

Last year, I knew I wanted to read more, and to “branch out” from what I would normally read. I had ideas of what books I would like, and didn’t think twice about others.

Enter,  Modern Mrs. Darcy’s 2020 Reading Challenge. This challenge helped me find, and most of the time enjoy, books that I would not have normally gravitated toward.

Here is what I read for each prompt:

*A book published the decade you were born
        Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson  (review)

*A debut novel
The Dry by Jane Harper ★.75 (review)

*A book recommended by a source you trust
The Night Window by Dean Koontz  (review)

*A book by a local author
Red Midnight by Thomas Hal Phillips  ★ (review)

*A book outside your (genre) comfort zone
The Night Window by Dean Koontz  (review)

*A book in translation
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbury ★ (review)

*A book nominated for an award in 2020
The River by Peter Heller ★.75 (review)

*A re-read
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck ★ (review)

*A classic you didn’t read in school
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë ★.5 (review)

*Three books by the same author
       (all by Joshilyn Jackson)
       Between, Georgia .5 (review)
Someone Else’s Love Story ★ (review)
       The Almost Sisters ★.5 (review)

I really like The Dry, The River and Joshilyn Jackson’s books! There have been a couple that I found so so, but really like most of hers. I love reading about southern women.

  2. Sunny Side

Yes! I had already read "Never Have I Ever" and liked how she wrote. When I saw the "3 Books by the same author" and found out that she had written quite a few books, I knew I would be good!
