It was a laid-back weekend, and after the last 4 busy ones, I was ready for it!
Friday
I went and picked us up lunch downtown like I usually do on Fridays. I enjoyed the Christmas lights all along the road downtown (they were getting ready for the Christmas Open House) but also enjoyed the trees in full fall color!
After work, the rest of the day was spent relaxing.
Saturday
I had set an alarm to get up and run, but when it went off, I decided I needed more sleep, so I went back to sleep. After the last several Saturdays of getting up really early, I thought I should take advantage.
After a cup of coffee and quiet time with cats, it was time for breakfast and then getting the day started. I got a lot done, without stressing or being in a rush, which was a nice change. In no certain order, I accomplished: finishing laundry; putting up a Christmas tree at what used to be my grandmother’s house, but will now be my sister’s; getting Care Group lists updated for church (this is a big task once every month); putting a pretty big dent in getting my winter/summer clothes swapped out; and probably a few more things I’m forgetting.
Having everything completed and feeling quite accomplished, it was time for showers, supper, and relaxing.
Sunday
Sunday morning was like most, except this Sunday we started children’s church during the preaching. We still had Sunday School from 10-10:45, then worship started at 11. Once worship was over, the children ages 3-10 were released to go to Children’s Church. This is something that has been needed, and has been in the works for a while, but we were finally able to make it happen. I believe we had a great response from parents too. Of course, the worship was phenomenal as usual, and the preaching was great!
After church, we needed to stop at Lowe’s to get Christmas lights for the tree at my sister’s house, but on the way, we stopped at our favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch. Of course, hile at Lowe’s, we had to look at other Christmas decorations. We also looked at some trees for my friend. She is needing a new tree, and since we were already going, we said we would look at them, and send pictures. She is wanting a full, thick, but not too big, tree. There were several options 🙂 While there, we bought some outside decorations – lighted snowflakes to line the sidewalk, and twinkling “Northern Lights”. I love them!
Once we got home and ate lunch, we went outside to put the decorations up. This required running several outdoor extension cords around the house, but hey, they work LOL. We were outside for a while but it was a nice day so it wasn’t bad being outside. By the time the decorations were set up and plugged in, it was almost dark so we were able to enjoy it right away.
The rest of the night was spent eating supper, relaxing supper, watching Elementary, and just mentally preparing for the week.
Happy Monday!
