Weekend Update [10.14.24]

It was a pretty good weekend. Things got accomplished and that makes me happy 🙂

Friday

Friday afternoon started with a local and “famous” delicacy – the slugburger (They’re not made of slugs. Read about them here). I went and picked up lunch for my mom and me

I finished out the work day, and decided to go ahead and put up the Christmas tree. Yes, I know it is still October? Do I care? No. It makes me happy (plus, the next two weeks will be busy).

Once the tree was up, we put the storage boxes back out in the garage, ate supper, and watched TV, and just relaxed the rest of the night…by the light of the Christmas tree:)

Saturday

Saturday morning, I got up, fed the cats, and headed out for a 6-mile run. The weather was nice and I enjoyed being outside. I also enjoyed the fall and Halloween decorations along the route. It made the six miles even more enjoyable.

After running, I came home and enjoyed a cup of coffee. That was followed by breakfast and Under the Vines. Once we had finished eating breakfast, it was time to get to work. My mom has one last room to clean out in my late grandmother’s house, so I went over with her to help pull things out. With everything pulled out of the room, we threw away what needed to be thrown away, and categorized everything else. I then came back home to work while she cleaned. I have a lot of church work to do for the next several weeks, so I wanted to get as much done as I could.

By early evening, we both had accomplished a lot and it was time to relax. We got showers, ate supper, and watched TV before bed.

Sunday

This Sunday was our Next Step Sunday. If you haven’t been here before, these are the classes that newcomers take to learn more about our beliefs and work toward being able to serve in the church. Those started at 9:30, and then Sunday School (for everyone else) started at 10. After Sunday School, we had an awesome worship service, and then our pastor brought an amazing message.

After church, those who had completed the first 3 Next Step classes had the opportunity to eat lunch with the Pastors. This is where they get a chance to express where they feel like they might like to serve. This is also where we get to know them more. We eat at a local restaurant and the food is always great.

After that, I came home to relax and prepare for the week ahead.

Yes! They have been doing elaborate Christmas displays & lights for a few years, but I guess they are going to start doing Halloween now. I’m here for it though!
