[September] 2024: Book Review

It’s time to look at the book I read in September!

Lost in a Book by Jennifer Donnelly

★★★★.5

This is an “addition” to Beauty and the Beast. In this addition to the original story, we see a smart and bookish, but lonely, Belle. Despite befriending the inhabitants of the Beast’s castle, including the Beast himself, Belle is lonely and soon discovers an enchanting book in the library, Nevermore. She is quickly pulled into its pages, quite literally, and soon meets a mysterious countess who offers Belle a dazzling lifestyle, dreams she didn’t think she could have, and a reunion she didn’t think would ever be possible. But is it all too good to be true?

She starts seeing cracks in her glittering “new” lifestyle and realizes that she may be lost in Nevermore and that the chance to return to the castle and her friends may be slipping away. In the end, will Love or Death win out?

That sounds like an intriguing premise for a book. It reminds me a bit of another book the boys and I once read where the reader got sucked inside the book they were reading.
