Wednesday Hodgepodge [7.17.24]

Happy Wednesday, friends! It’s time for Joyce‘s Wednesday Hodgepodge linkup. Here are this week’s questions with my answers in italics.

1. What is an adult problem nobody prepared you for?

All of it! There are parts of childhood I wouldn’t want to do over, but seriously, life was easier then.

2. Without mentioning any tech, what’s your most prized possession?

I would say that my most prized possession(s) right now are some figurines that belonged to my grandmother. She has never really been into figurines but one summer, we were on Market Street in Charleston, SC, and she saw these two in the window of a shop and fell in love. The shop had just closed but my sister (who was young at the time) was able to get them to open the door (and they were nice about it too (: ) and she bought them. She has had them sitting on her mantle since then. After her passing, my sister and I decided she would take one and I would take the other. I wish I had a picture of them but I don’t (maybe I will remember to update later).

3. It’s National Peach Ice Cream Day (July 17th). Will you be celebrating? Do you like peaches? Given a choice would you prefer peach ice cream, peach pie, peach cobbler, or just hand me a peach? Do you own anything that is peach in color?

I will if I can find some peach ice cream! I love peaches! Given the choice to flavor something with peach, I’m probably going to go for it. (You can’t tell from the picture but it is peach lemonade)

I would eat them all but given a choice between peach ice cream, peach pie, peach cobbler, or just a plain ole peach, I would choose peach cobbler. I do own a few things that are peach in color.

4.  What makes a friendship successful?

The first things that pop into my head are communication, honesty, laughter, one to plan the trip & one to just go along with it (HA! It’;’s kind of a joke between my friend and me)

5.  Let’s give our brains a rest and do a little summertime this or that…beach or pool? ice cream or snowcone? amusement park or camping? burger or hot dog? watermelon or strawberries? get up early or sleep in late? sunrise or sunset?

  • Beach or pool?
  • Ice cream or snowcone? (but really both. I like them equally)
  • Amusement park or camping? (I like the thrills and nature)
  • Burger or hot dog?
  • Watermelon or strawberries? (but I like both)
  • Get up early or sleep in late? (but I have cats, so I don’t HA!)
  • Sunrise or sunset?

6. Insert your own random thought here.

67 days until astronomical fall (Sept. 22); 45 until meteorological fall (Sept. 1) <–I’m going with this one!

Comments

  1. Susan

I live in So California and we don’t get much fall weather here until after October. That is nice that you and your sisters have something special from your grandmother. That picture on the top made me laugh! Enjoy your week!

  2. Claire

I wish Fall were closer; I love summer but I always reach a point where I am kind of over it.

  3. Ellen Bayles

Haha…I love the ongoing joke you have with your friend! Fall is a favorite of mine so I’ll go with the shorter time until it begins, too. That is a sweet possession for you and your sister to share along with the memory. Take care…
