A lot can change in just a week!! If you remember on last weekend’s update, my grandmother was in the hospital. Sadly, she passed away on May 21, 2024. So, last week, I took an unexpected blogging break. While I am still sad and miss her terribly, I am thankful that, one, she is in heaven, and two, she is no longer in pain.
Now, on to Memorial Day weekend. It was a strange weekend (see life update above) but, it was still good.
Friday Night
I think I was still in a daze. I really don’t remember what I did. I’m pretty sure I did work on some laundry though. Most of the day/night was spent just spending time with my mom and sister. I do remember that my mom went with me to pick up my grandmother’s cat Precious’s medicine and while we were gone, this was delivered to the house, for my mom.
Saturday
I slept until I wanted to get up (well, actually, until the cats made me get up). I made myself a cup of coffee and enjoyed it with a cat in my lap while reading.
Next, my mom, my sister, and I got dressed and went to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel…
…and then did some retail therapy.
We really went to get what we needed to dry and preserve some flowers from my grandmother’s funeral arrangement. (They are drying now and will be, more than likely, be made into something with epoxy)
After we got back home, we worked on preserving the flowers. We found out (thankfully before actually doing so) that putting them in epoxy before drying them would cause them to rot, so we did have to make a trip back to Hobby Lobby to get silica crystals to put the flowers in to dry. With the flowers drying, we went on with the rest of the day, which consisted of laundry, relaxing, doing what church work needed to be done, and then supper and bedtime.
Sunday
Sunday was our Family Fun Day. It is the day we dress casual (more casually, like in our church t-shirts) and then hang out, fellowship, and play games. Like always, we stopped at Starbucks on the way. Sunday School was great, worship was great, and the message was great! It was just a great day!
After church and family fun day was over, we took my sister back home (she lives an hour and a half away). She would have been getting my grandmother’s vehicle but thanks to the Memorial Day weekend, they were not able to get their insurance on it, so she couldn’t take it Sunday. Of course, a trip to take her home meant we “had” to stop at the bookstore/Starbucks.
When my mom and I got back home, we fed all 4 cats, and then it was time for bed.
Monday
Monday was just full of relaxing, a little bit of laundry, and just getting prepared for the work week (and a “new” routine🤷♀️).
